HARRISBURG – Residents of three Clearfield County municipalities stand to benefit from Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) water and sewer infrastructure grants announced today, according to state Rep. Dallas Kephart (R-Clearfield/Cambria).

“I’m simply making the announcement as the authorities’ board members deserve all the credit for initiating the application process for this competitive grant,” Kephart said. “The grants being awarded are investments in the communities they are charged with serving and the money will be used to address a definite need.”

The Houtzdale Municipal Authority has been awarded a more than $1 million grant to upgrade and repair damaged pipes and existing service tanks in their Beccaria and Woodward townships (as well as Rush Township, Centre County) service areas. Additionally, the Clearfield Municipal Authority will receive a more than $53,000 grant to address leak detection at their Lawrence Township wastewater lift station.

The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development and administers Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. Project approval requires five affirmative votes from the seven board members, four of which must come from legislative appointees.

Questions about this or any state government issue should be directed to Kephart’s Clearfield district office at 814-765-0609, his Hastings office at 814-247-6210 or his Osceola Mills office at 814-339-6544.
