Langerholc, Kephart Attend Inaugural Boot Camp Graduation at SCI-Houtzdale
August 19, 2026
HARRISBURG – State Sen. Wayne Langerholc Jr. (R-35) and state Rep. Dallas Kephart (R-Clearfield/Cambria) were on hand Wednesday to support and congratulate graduates of the first Motivational Boot Camp Program to be held at SCI-Houtzdale.
“Today we recognize the accomplishments of this inaugural graduating class and highlight the importance of the boot camp program,” said Langerholc. “The program’s focus on accountability, rehabilitation and personal development reflects the very best of our Commonwealth’s corrections system, the officers who engage with inmates each day and their commitment to helping individuals build a better future.”
“The Quehanna Boot Camp’s low rate of recidivism and high rate of GEDs earned by inmates were two reasons I opposed its closing, along with the jobs that were eliminated and families that were inconvenienced,” Kephart added. “I’ve heard stories of lives changed as a result of Quehanna and am glad to see the program is being maintained in Houtzdale thanks to dedicated staff who make it a success.”
The 24 program graduates are released directly onto guaranteed parole to serve the remainder of their sentences under intensive supervision. Traditionally, they transition to Community Corrections Centers (halfway houses) or return home under tight community monitoring.
